RWI Synthetics Selected for the 2021 SET100 List

When RUNWITHIT started modelling city futures in 2019, we saw energy as one of the foundational layers facing disruption.  Fast forward to 2021, and we are thrilled to be selected as one of the top 100 global companies in Energy Transition by the SET100, from a field of 543 applications spanning 89 countries. The SET100 companies are a diverse, innovative and inspiring group fighting climate change and promoting sustainability.

The SET100 start-ups will be competing in a pitch contest in one of the following five categories: Clean Energy Generation, Demand-Side Innovation, Energy Distribution & Storage, Smart Mobility & Transportation and Quality Access & SDG-7. Upon completion of the pitch competition, 15 finalists will be announced at the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue Evening Reception on March 16th!

RUNWITHIT will be competing in the Smart Mobility & Transportation category, pitching Synthetic Mobility Modelling, a way to validate technologies, policies and infrastructure changes with synthetic people, their patterns of life, responses, access, barriers and choices. Electrified transportation is an extension of our Synthetic Modelling Platform for energy grids, their changing relationships with their customers, and their assets at risk.

We model the impact of investments, the configuration of technology, and the outcomes of adoption and use. Because we don’t rely on surveillance or existing data, our models include what isn’t visible – whether it is the quantified opportunity for V2X technology to improve resilience or exploring safety and accessibility policies for those people outside of the current mobility landscape. Our reference project for this award is “Synthetic KL,” a finalist in the Toyota Mobility Foundation’s City Architecture of Tomorrow Challenge.

As the world attempts to decarbonize, decentralize and digitize by implementing renewables, infrastructure, policy, and smart technologies, the implications and intersections of how these solutions combine remain relatively unknown.  RUNWITHIT’s Synthetic Modelling Platform (SMP) brings everything together in each unique city's accurate living models.

RWI's Synthetic Modelling Platform enables stakeholders of all kinds to experiment, optimize and educate tailored solutions for energy grid resiliency assessment and planning.
